Darryl Mansir's Testimony
Hi, my name is Darryl Mansir. After attending Faith School of Theology some 26 years ago, it’s there that I learned to play guitar. About 5 years later, I started showing my young teenager nephew Jeff Sutter how to play guitar, which didn’t take long before he started destroying me with it. We soon started to write songs together and started to search for the right church to start attending. We found Elim Assembly of God in Bath, Maine. Meeting John Genthner at the church, he joined Jeff and I and we formed a band named Crossfire. Soon after performing at Shepard’s Fold Church of God in Hallowell, Maine where my cousin Robert Hinkley also attended and he was a great drummer, hence Crossfire was fully formed. We played out to many places, broke up for awhile and got back together then made a demo album, and then changed our name to Olivet. People came and people went, and my health started to go. I developed a blood disease that caused me to get Pancreatitis several times, which landed me in the hospital where I almost died. God saw me through those nasty times and then I got a heart attack and God saw me through that too. Sorry, but it gets worse from here. Got a stroke and another heart attack, then another stroke, which really messed me up. After all this I got a hand disease that caused my fingers to curl into a ball which ended my guitar playing. I became half crippled and have no hands, you think I might have been angry at this time; I was. I was mad at God for all that had happened to me and why He had not healed me yet. Well God answered me in a way I didn’t expect. He answered by asking me a question, “What if a man or woman worked out at a gym had 0 body fat, ate all the right foods and life was perfect for them but didn’t know Me. Who do you think is in better shape, them or you?”. Well I took the slap in the face by God and sat in awe at the question He asked. You see no matter what shape I am in, I am in better shape because I have God in my life. Since that day I realized that this body is just a shell and the soul will be with Jesus some day and with a new body. Amen. Life here on this earth is very hard for me now, but I am waiting with joy in my heart for the next adventure for me. Praise God and love you all!
